One of ancient Egypt’s most famous pharaohs is getting his own exhibition in Calgary this winter. Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience will explore Tutankhamun’s story through massive visuals, recreated artifacts, and sound.
The exhibition will be located inside the former Canada Sports Hall of Fame building at Canada Olympic Park and will be open from Dec. 12, 2026, to Feb. 7, 2027.
From what you’ll see inside to ticket prices, parking and accessibility, here’s everything you need to know before you visit.
According to WinSport, Beyond King Tut is a multi-sensory experience centred around the story of Tutankhamun and ancient Egypt. You can expect the experience to last approximately 60 minutes, although you’re welcome to stay longer if capacity allows.
It’s also suitable for all ages, with tickets available for everyone from infants to seniors.
One important thing to note is that the artifacts you’ll see throughout the exhibit are replicas, not original ancient Egyptian artifacts.
The exhibition will run from Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026, to Sunday, Feb. 7, 2027, and will be open seven days a week.
The experience will be open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the last entry at 6 p.m.
You can find the Beyond King Tut experience inside the Canada Sports Hall of Fame building at Canada Olympic Park.
If you’re driving, WinSport notes that free, first-come, first-served parking will be available.
According to WinSport, the experience is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible lift providing access to all areas.
Strollers aren’t permitted inside the experience, but there will be a dedicated area where you can leave them.
Adult tickets for ages 16 to 64 cost $42.53 plus fees, while tickets for seniors ages 65 and older are $36.23 plus fees. Youth tickets for ages three to 15 cost $25.19 plus fees, and infants up to age two can attend for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
There are also two family ticket options. The two-adult, two-child family four-pack costs $112.86 plus additional fees, while the one-adult, three-child family four-pack costs $95 plus fees. You can purchase all tickets directly through Showpass.
When booking, you’ll choose a 15-minute entry time slot, and you’ll want to arrive within 15 minutes of your selected time to scan your tickets. It’s important to note that late entry isn’t guaranteed, especially during busy periods.
According to WinSport, tickets are non-refundable, but you can exchange them up to 24 hours before your scheduled visit if the time you selected no longer works for you.
There are a few things to keep in mind before heading to the exhibition. The experience is primarily standing, with limited seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. The exhibition also includes bright lighting, loud audio, and moving visuals, which may cause dizziness or motion sickness.
As for what you can bring inside, large bags and backpacks aren’t permitted, so you’ll need to keep them in the car.
You’re also welcome to take personal, non-flash photos in designated areas, but flash photography, tripods, selfie sticks, and video recording may be restricted in some areas.
If you want to grab a bite during your visit, an on-site café will serve light refreshments, although you can’t take food and drinks into the exhibit. A cashless gift shop will also offer souvenirs, including art prints.
So if you’ve been waiting for a chance to dive into ancient Egypt without booking a flight to Cairo, this is your chance.
