Toronto is getting a Canada Day celebration at Nathan Phillips Square

Get excited, Toronto. A Canada Day celebration is taking over Nathan Phillips Square this summer and it’s the first time since 2017.

Deputy Mayor of Toronto Jennifer McKelvie confirmed the news on Wednesday, saying that the family-friendly festivities at City Hall are back on.

City officials had originally intended to call off the celebrations, but after meeting with McKelvie about the decision, they decided to bring the party back after all.

The party at Nathan Phillips will be one of several taking place around Toronto on July 1st.

Mel Lastman Square in North York will be hosting its usual celebration on July 1st, and a free rock music festival hosted by Q107 is taking place at Woodbine Park.

The festival will be free to the public and it’ll feature a stacked lineup of rock and roll tribute bands.

In addition to incredible live music, there will also be a whole bunch of mouthwatering food, fun activities, a Beer Garden, and a Kids Zone.

The celebration will be held at Woodbine Park across from Woodbine Beach at Ashbridges Bay.

It wouldn’t be a Canada Day festival without some grand finale fireworks, and the high-altitude light show will be set to a “live” set of amazing rock music.

According to a statement from McKelvie, “there will be dozens of Canada Day celebrations across the city” this year and more details on City-run events will be released in the coming weeks.
