This FREE street festival is bringing Canada Day fireworks to Metro Vancouver

Oh, and all festivities are free to attend – no tickets necessary! Let’s dive in.

2023 festival lineup

Burnaby’s second annual StreetFest is returning to the Metrotown neighbourhood with a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Take to the streets to dance as JUNO award-winning headliner LIGHTS performs electronic synth-pop tunes, or enjoy JUNO-nominee and Two-Spirit Mohawk artist Shawnee Kish taking the stage.

Visitors can also take advantage of family-friendly activities and community displays along Central Boulevard and Civic Square, and check out the food trucks and concerts at Central Park!

“After a stellar first year, StreetFest on Central has earned its reputation as the best street party in Metro Vancouver on Canada Day and we’re excited to be bringing this event back to downtown Burnaby,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “StreetFest is a fantastic showcase of the incredible diversity and culture that makes our community so special – and this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever!”

While the StreetFest celebration will take place on the evening of July 1st, the City of Burnaby will host other Canada Day activities across the city, including at the Burnaby Village Museum and Edmonds Park and Plaza.

Fireworks schedule

StreetFest will kick off at 6:30 pm with family-friendly celebrations and performances, and cap off with a fireworks show at 10:15 pm.

Note that road closures will be in effect along Patterson Avenue as well as Central Boulevard and Beresford Street (between Patterson and Willingdon Avenues).

Keep in mind that the City of Vancouver has also banned the sale and use of fireworks by the general public, so if you’re hoping to catch some fireworks near Vancouver this year – head over to Burnaby.

And with that, happy almost Canada Day!
