Birthdays are the best days and if anyone knows how to celebrate right, it’s the great North! This weekend, people all over the country will head outdoors to celebrate July 1st and like so many of them, Calgary will close out Canada Day with a stunning fireworks display at Stampede Park.

Sadly, because they’ll be setting up for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, the park itself will be closed – but don’t fret. Here are just a few of the best places to watch them light the night.

With an impressive view of the skyline, Hillcrest Avenue in Mount Royal is another stunning spot away from Stampede Park. Just make sure you bring a blanket and bug spray. It can get a tad chilly.

With benches and a solid view of the city skyline, Tom Cambell’s Hill is another local favourite. From sunsets and northern lights to fireworks displays – this is another spot with a quiet but pretty decent view of the Canada Day fireworks in Calgary.
