10 of the very best things to do in Calgary this Canada Day

Canada Day is here, Calgary and with the worst of the pandemic behind us, we hope you’re ready to play some catchup.

From concerts and barbeques to markets and fireworks, July 1st, 2022 will bring a ton of family-friendly events of the delicious, musical and educational variety to the streets – so get ready and get set! Not sure where to go or when? Here are 10 events happening in and around the city this year.

AIRDRIE CANADA DAY PARADE

Who doesn’t love a good float? This year, take a short drive to Airdrie for their big Canada Day parade featuring local businesses, organizations and performers.

STUDIO BELL JULY 1ST CELEBRATIONS 

An instrument petting zoo, an all-request duelling piano show AND an afterparty hosted by The King Eddy? Canada Day is going to be absolutely bonkers at the National Music Centre and you won’t want to miss a beat. Luckily, they’ll be offering ‘pay-what-you-can’ admission, so you don’t have to! CITY OF CALGARY CANADA DAY CELEBRATION

Don’t want to stay in one place for too long? The city of Calgary will have a ton of events happening all over the city this year. Kicking off at 11 am, check out Fort Calgary for an artisan market, food trucks, Metis jigging, open prayer, dancing, and resting of the flags. At 3 pm visit Olympic Plaza or St. Patrick’s island for live music, food trucks and more before they set the fireworks off at 9 pm.

17TH AVENUE SUMMER SERIES

From still walkers and aerialists, to drag royalty and local musicians – 17th Avenue will kick off its 2022 summer series with a ton of Canada Day events. For a full itinerary, check out the link above and enjoy!

WHISKEY ROSE SALOON CANADA DAY PARTY

Featuring live music all day long, not only will Calgarians have a good time while simultaneously breaking in their cowboy boots, but they’ll also get a sneak peek at their brand new Stampede tent! Yahoo!

LYNX RIDGE GOLF COURSE

Worried you won’t find a spot at Calgary’s big fireworks show? Check out the Lynx Ridge Golf Course where they will have their own explosive display on the driving range.

CANADA DAY MARKET – EAU CLAIRE

Featuring face painters, live music, local vendors, food trucks and more the Calgary Night Market presents their 2022 Canada Day event in Eau Claire. This event is free to attend and will run until 8 pm, meaning you can still hit the fireworks after. Enjoy!

HERITAGE PARK X GLOBALFEST – CANADA DAY 2022

This year, in collaboration with Global Fest, Heritage Park will have an entire day of Canada Day programming! From musicians to dancers, drummers and more – celebrate our country’s diversity and get a free butter tart if you’re among the first 1,000 guests to arrive at the Plaza.

CALGARY CHINESE CULTURAL CENTRE CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS

Going to be downtown? Head over to the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre for a colourful day that will include everything from martial art groups, singers, and different multicultural acts, plus an Indigenous ceremony blessing. For more information hit the link above!

SASKATOON FARM CANADA DAY MARKET

From pancakes to bouncy castles, the Saskatoon Farm’s 2022 Canada market will be an event that you won’t want to miss. Enjoy the sun at the beer gardens, shop local vendors and then enjoy a fireworks show
