Well, folks, it’s that time again! We hope you’re hungry, ready to support local, and are optimistic about the weather this spring because today is the day that pop-up patios are allowed to extend outwards onto the streets of Calgary.

As you’re all aware, indoor dining has taken quite the hit since the beginning of COVID, causing businesses everywhere to stress, struggle, or worse, shut down.

From limiting an establishment’s capacity to prohibiting dining inside altogether, eateries have had it tough. Luckily, in response to restrictions, Calgary has allowed bars and restaurants to double how many people they’re able to seat by giving them the OK to set up tables and chairs where they please.

Also, as if the wiggle room wasn’t good enough, they’ve also waived permit fees in order to do so!

Sure, maybe it makes parking in the inner city a little bit harder, but it’s absolutely worth it. They need us and we need them… after all, what is spring in Calgary without a patio beer or two?!
