A massive new riverside park with Calgary’s tallest slide is opening this summer

If you’ve been in the Wolf Willow neighbourhood in Calgary lately, you may have noticed something pretty big starting to take shape.

A new park is currently under development and will feature Calgary’s tallest slide as its centrepiece. And it is expected to become one of the most noticeable features along the Bow River once finished.

A riverside space that keeps evolving

If you’re not familiar with Wolf Willow, it’s a growing community at the southeast end of the city, known for its easy access to green spaces, pathways, and newer developments that continue to expand.

According to Wolf Willow, the new park is set to become one of the biggest community additions when it opens later this year. The park is located along the Bow River and will provide massive play spaces, river access, and Calgary’s first engineered-wood playground system. There will also be a smaller play area designed for younger kids and families, which helps make it a space that works for all ages.

Now, for the most exciting feature of all!

Set right in the middle of the park will be a 3.5-storey slide, which will make it home to Calgary’s tallest slide once complete. At the moment, that title is held by Radio Park in the West District, which opened its own large-scale slide in 2025 and features a three-storey tower. According to an Instagram post by Wolf Willow, the park is set to open on Saturday, August 8, 2026, and will mark a major milestone for the community.

And although Fish Park is still under construction, Wolf Willow has another park you can check out right now. Wolf Park is just down the road and features a wolf-themed playground with climbing structures, slides, and a ton of other play features perfect for kids of all ages.

So if you’re looking for a new spot to take the kids this summer, or just want to test out the city’s tallest slide, you’ll definitely want to check out Fish Park when it opens. With its riverside location and growing list of amenities, it’s shaping up to be a major new outdoor destination in south Calgary.
