Calgary’s hot new sweet shop has wildly inventive churros & more

From cake shops to pie stops YYC has an insane dessert scene. We honestly thought we had it all, but it turned out something was missing! Enter, Halo Churros, a new Calgary sweet shop that we didn’t even know that we needed.

Since opening in April, Halo has amassed quite the following and it’s pretty clear why!

Serving coffees, lattes, and espresso’s – iced and piping hot, soft-serve ice cream, as well as both sweet and savoury gourmet churros, this adorable Marda Loop restaurant is a must-stop for lunch, dinner and after dark – when cravings are sometimes unbearable.

From delightfully healthy-looking churro sandwiches that can be ordered with everything from avocados and tomatoes to salmon and pesto, your mid-day eat or light afternoon bite will be something to rave about. We mean, really – how many of us actually knew that you could substitute two slices of bread for a churro?

After dinner, or just whenever in the heck you need to satisfy a sweet tooth, they also have some unreal-looking desserts (obviously). Served stuffed with PB and J, berries, Nutella, bacon, honey, apples or cookies, there is almost no way that you’ll leave without a smile on your face.

Trust us, you will not regret checking them out – especially on Selfie Saturdays, when, in addition to baking you an unreal snack or meal, they’ll also print your face on your coffee totally free of charge. Pretty cool right?
