Halloween weekend is just around the corner, so, really – it was only a matter of time until the prairies got dumped on. Despite getting a warm start last week, Calgary saw several inches of snow accumulate over the last few days and it was met with some mixed reactions.

According to The Weather Network, the city beat a daily snowfall record of 18 cm on October 22nd, which was established in 1939; and though it was only a single cm that did the trick – it still felt pretty significant to most.

Some, including Juno-award-winning artist and Calgary Resident, Jann Arden, were delighted – calling it beautiful and sharing photos and videos of powder-covered trees…

WHILE OTHERS WERE LESS-THAN-EXCITED TO SEE THE GROUND COVERED IN WHITE…

THOUGH, MOST PEOPLE JUST WENT WITH IT – AFTER ALL, IT’S NOT UNUSUAL THAT CALGARY GETS SNOW THIS EARLY IN THE YEAR.

THAT OF COURSE, DIDN’T STOP OTHERS FROM COMMENTING ON THE CITIES MISFORTUNE (WHICH WAS DONE ALL IN GOOD FUN, WE’RE SURE.)

AND – JUST FOR GOOD MEASURE THERE WERE ALSO A FEW THAT WERE QUICK TO DRAW COMPARISONS – JUST IN CASE YOU NEEDED A REMINDER THAT IT WAS ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL BEFORE IT ALL WENT DOWN.

How did you react, Calgary? We’re you excited, bothered, or unphased by this weekend’s weather? Let us know!

Luckily, things are looking up for the week, so we have some time to let things melt and clean up the streets before it the season really rocks us – but stay on guard!

You never know what’ll happen with the weather here in Alberta.
