The countdown to Calgary Pride is on and with the sweet smell of excitement in the air – it was only a matter of time until we got some big news from the organization behind our city’s most vibrant event.
This year, in order to ring in the 2 weeks of colourful programming we’ve come to know and love, the not-for-profit will hold a kick-off party in Central Memorial Park – and it’ll be totally FREE to attend!
Featuring local vendors, performances and even an outdoor movie screening with Fresh Air Cinema, Calgarians can kick it in the sun with their friends, family and loved ones – but it gets better!

“Working closely with the End of the Rainbow Foundation and the Centre for Newcomers, Calgary Pride is centering the complexity and intersectionality of 2SLGBTQ+ immigration at this year’s parade,” they wrote in a press release.
“Calgary Pride is honoured to announce this year’s Pride Parade Grand Marshals are 2SLGBTQ+ refugees who now call Moh’kinsstis (Calgary) home.”
