Calgary is now new permanent home of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame

It should come as no surprise that most Calgarians consider themselves to be big fans of country music. Whether we’re boot-scootin’ our way through Stampede week, or two-stepping at Cowboys, we’ve got the twang and the twang has got us by the heartstrings. As for the artists? Well, they’re practically royalty in these parts, which is why it only makes sense that the Canadian Country Music Hall Of Fame would decide to move across province lines into our beloved Studio Bell Music Centre, a museum revered for its existing collection of memorabilia and dedication to the arts.

Established in 1984 the HOF contains over 1,200 artifacts and represents 150 musicians, displaying one number of one-of-a-kind memorabilia from Shania Twain’s 2018 CCMA Award gown and Tom Connor’s iconic ‘stompin’ board.

Over the last 37 years, the CCMHOF has called both Saskatchewan and most recently Merritt, BC home and we’re sure it was great while it lasted, but this? This just makes sense!

“There isn’t a better home for the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame than Calgary, a city in the province of Alberta with a tremendous history, legacy and appreciation for country music, and strong ties to the country music industry,” said Andrew Mosker, President and CEO of NMC in a press release.

Sadly, there isn’t an official opening date just yet, but we’ll definitely keep you guys updated as more information rolls in – it shouldn’t be long now!

Until then, dust off your hats, Calgary! Something big is coming1
