Some Albertans will get a cheque from the Government this week & here’s why

Under the weight of loans, rent and 2022 craziness, many of us could seriously use a couple of extra bucks right now, luckily the Government of Canada is gearing up to release the second installment of the climate action incentive payment (CAIP) – a program that officials hope will offset the cost of Canada’s carbon pollution pricing within the province.

Now, it’s important to note that not everyone will be eligible come October 15th when cheques are distributed,

In order to have received your first payment back in July and again this coming week, you must have been a resident of Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba or Saskatchewan on the first day of the payment month and the last day of the previous payment month) and you’ll need to be one of the following:

• At least 19 years of age or older
• Have (or previously had) a spouse or common-law partner
• Be (or previously have been) a parent and live (or previously lived) with your child

An application wasn’t necessary to receive these payments, so for those of you who qualify – just sit back, relax and enjoy!

Incentives differ from person to person with a total of $539 given to an individual, $270 given to spouses or common-law partners, $139 given to children under the age of 19 and $270 for the first child in a single-parent family – so keep an eye on your mailboxes!
