Robbie Burns Day is coming up on Jan. 25 this year, and it’s an opportunity to celebrate the Scottish bard’s birthday with good cheer and community.

Across Canada, Scots and Scottish descendants gather to read Burns’ poetry, eat traditional meals, and raise a glass to toast this prolific individual.

There are Burns Bashes held in every major city in Canada, and we’ve compiled them so you can spend more time enjoying a wee dram with your lads and lassies. Perhaps you’ll even meet your own Sassenach.

Vancouver

Robbie Burns’ 267th Birthday

Robbie Burns Day is a celebration of tradition, steeped in libations, songs, tasty treats and Scottish entertainment. The Haggis will be piped in by Hannah Foken, followed by Peter Scott, who will give the Address to the Haggis.

Robbie Burns Night

Join the Scottish Cultural Centre in Vancouver for the 18th Annual Robbie Burns Dinner, hosted by the Greighlan Crossing Pipe Band. This fundraiser offers a full evening of Scottish culture: live pipe band performances, highland dancing, a silent auction, and a traditional Burns supper in honour of Robert Burns.

Join the annual Robbie Burns’ Night at the Polish Canadian Club in Calgary. Featuring the Address to the Haggis, the Immortal Memory, the Toast to the Lassies and their reply. Entertainment also includes Highland dancing, piping, singing and fantastic food. The first half of the dance will consist of easy ceilidh-style dances for everyone.
