This driving route in Ontario has breathtaking views & scenic stops

In desperate need of a scenic road trip? The famous Niagara Parkway will take you on a whirlwind of incredible sights and destinations. Here’s what to know about this historic adventure.

According to Niagara Falls Tourism, the Niagara Parkway was first established in 1931 and is one of the oldest in Ontario.

“The Niagara Parkway is a scenic drive running parallel to the Niagara River 55 km (34 mi) from Fort Erie in the south, to Niagara on the Lake in the north,” shares the tourism page.

It’s so beautiful that back in 1943, British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill visited Niagara Falls and said that the Niagara Parkway was the “prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world.”

And you may agree.

Though you’ll want to stare at the wonderous beauty, keep your eyes on the road and get your passengers to snap some pics for you.

There’s a map by Niagara Parks that shows you all the best places to visit along the Parkway, from nature trails to shopping to dining to attractions.

Some of the sights include Old Fort Erie and Queen Victoria Park, which is home to the ever-popular Zipline to the Falls attraction.

It’ll also take you up to the Niagara Falls attractions like the Journey Behind the Falls, the Whirlpool Aerocar, and White Water Walk.

You’ll also zip by the Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory, which are two must-visit destinations in the area.

And at the northern end of the route, you’ll get to experience the enchanting town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

We don’t know about you but this sounds like quite the quality road trip – especially on a long weekend. Hint hint.

We’ll see you out there!
