Start the carriage because it’s time for a trip to fairytale island! Boldt Castle is a magical six-storey castle on Heart Island, which is easily accessible by boat from Ontario.

Located in Alexandria Bay of New York State, the castle has a romantic backstory that will make you swoon.

It’s said to be one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Thousand Island Region and in all of Upstate New York.

Picture this: It’s the 1900s and the millionaire owner of NYC’s famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel, George C. Boldt, decides to build a castle for the love of his life, Louise.

However, as the construction of the castle was well underway, Louise suddenly passed away.

The project was halted and the castle was abandoned, a forgotten symbol of love and loss.

Boldt Castle was later acquired by the Thousand Island Transit Authority, who breathed new life into the structure and restored it to the glorious landmark it was always meant to be.

Today, the opulent castle stands proud on Heart Island, located along the St. Lawrence River, attracting visitors from all over.
