If tobogganing just isn’t cutting it, it’s time to check out Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster. Yep, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario is home to an epic 1 km mountain roller coaster track, the first in the province and open all year round. Zipping at up to 42 km/hour, not only will you get a thrill, but you’ll be treated to some stunning views of the Niagara Escarpment.
Located within Blue Mountain Resort, getting to Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster will take around 2 hours by car from Toronto or the GTA.
Once at Blue Mountain, you can enjoy the coaster any day of the week with the attraction open daily from noon until 8 p.m.
There are five free parking lots at the resort to choose from, too.
“Get ready to ride down a mountain on a roller coaster! Glide along 1 km of track and tour the terrain—or turn it into a thrill ride,” says Blue Mountain Resort.
The coolest part about the Ridge Runner is that you’re the driver of your own ride, you can control the speed at which you travel down the mountain. “Ridge Runner is a simple, equipment-free favourite among all ages. But be prepared, as this is a fast ride! We’ll keep you on track, but as with most things at Blue, you are the driver,” the resort continues.
However, there are some requirements if you want to try out this ride, which include:
It’s also important to note that large bags, loose articles of clothing or hair are not permitted on the ride.
As for cost, The Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster can be accessed by purchasing a Play All Day ticket which includes unlimited single-daily access to all Adventure Park attractions and activities such as snow tubing, the aquatic centre and the mountaintop skating.
Play All Day tickets range from $25 to $45 depending on your age.
Happy adventuring!
