Hike to new heights: This enchanting suspension bridge is tucked away in an Alberta park

Wild Rose Country is rich with incredible things to see and Kananaskis is an Alberta destination that’s tough to beat.

Feel like you’ve seen it all? Deep within Peter Lougheed Park, lies a hidden gem, The Black Shale Suspension Bridge, a magical spot where your next spring hike will reach all new heights.

Tucked away in the lush greenery, this 6.8-kilometre hike offers a picturesque adventure in the much warmer months.

As you traverse the trail, encounter wildlife, get some fresh air, and soak up some rays along the way, then cross the enchanting overpass.

“The landscape along this long route is diverse with some sections travelling through thick forests and others climbing up and over massive rock slides, providing outstanding views across the valley,” said Alberta Parks.

“Park and access the High Rockies trail for the Black Shale Suspension Bridge from the Black Prince Day Use; Use the South Spray Lakes Map for trail directions and navigation”
