This popular Vancouver ghost service is changing the game for take-out chicken

Attention chicken connoisseurs! Have you ever feasted on beer brined chicken? Well, Birdies Charcoal Grill is serving up its mouthwatering selection of charcoal chicken and their signature ‘Birdies Baste” will have you rethinking every other bird on the block.

This line-up-worthy, takeout-out spot in East Van has locals losing their minds over their Peruvian-style chicken. Their menu also brings flavours of modern american, asian, and middle eastern inspired sides, sauces, and mains.

Not to be confused with Earl’s new ‘Birdies Eats & Drinks” — Birdies Charcoal Grill has been slinging their iconic chargrill beer brined chicken since early last year. They’ve made their name known for their Peruvian marinades, eclectic side dishes and world-travelled chicken sauces.

Truthfully, everything on their menu is worth the hype. You can sample their Peruvian Birdies on their own, or in one of their juicy handhelds. The Original Birdies Sando and Birdies Chicken and Gravy Roll are two of many bites on our must-try list.

You can also add a little extra spice to your meal with their sides. Their lineup boasts delights such as Corn Bread, Sweet Pickle Coleslaw, and Arroz Verde (Peruvian-style rice with cilantro and spices), to name just a few.

As for sauce, if you’re a fan of spice, you’ve come to the right takeout window. Their spicy Birdies Bastes will have you coming back for more (and reaching for a glass of water).

The chefs

Wondering who’s serving up all this succulent chicken? Andres Zapata and James Mieu are the two passionate chefs going above and beyond to provide the very best quality in every flavourful dish.

They love serving new flavours to Vancouver’s food scene, and sharing their personal and professional backgrounds through their unique dishes.

Worked up an appetite while reading this article? You can order Birdies dishes straight to your door with DoorDash, UberEats, SkipTheDishes, Fantuan or Ritual. Or better yet, head straight to the source at their takeout location on East Hastings.
