Okay, folks. We’ve got MAJOR news – unless you’re under the age of 12 – in which case, where are your parents? And can you tell your older siblings that side parts are still cool? They won’t listen to us. Everyone else – we hope that you’ve got those clicking fingers stretched out and ready because, in just a few day’s time, everyone 12 and over will be able to make an appointment to get vaccinated in Alberta!

According to a press release sent out this morning, this expansion will ensure that 3.8 million Albertans are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Because this is a LOT of people, bookings will actually happen in two groups to avoid crashing the system – which makes perfect sense!

Starting tomorrow, Thursday, May 6th anyone born in 1991 or earlier will finally be able to reserve their dose of mRNA. Then, Monday, May 10th, Albertans born between 2009 and 1992 will also be able to pony up.

“This is a very exciting day for Alberta and it arrives right when we need it the most. We are battling an extremely aggressive third wave of COVID-19 and we know that vaccines are our best weapon against it,” Said Premier Jason Kenney.

“By opening bookings to everybody over 12 years of age, we are taking a huge step towards stopping the spike and hopefully putting this pandemic behind us for good.”

Crazy, no?! When eligible, Albertans who want the COVID vaccine will be able to book an appointment by calling 811, checking out the AHS website, or by contacting one of the pharmacies listed here by Alberta Blue Cross.
