Do you love to take part in quirky holiday traditions? Well, the upcoming Big Elf Run is the perfect excuse to lace up your running shoes, don your elf hats, and hit Stanley Park. Now in its 11th year, the event brings together hundreds of Christmas “elves” for a festive day of community, holiday entertainment, and memory-making.
This holiday-themed run features five, ten, and 15 km races, though not everyone will be dashing for the finish line. Rest assured, there will be plenty of participants walking over running, in addition to a one-kilometre Wee Elf Run that’s perfect for families with children.
The Wee Elf Run kicks things off at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, followed by the other runs at 2 p.m. All courses go through Vancouver’s largest and most beloved urban park, Stanley Park, starting at Lumberman’s Arch. No matter which length you choose, you’ll follow the path through old oak trees before looping into the seawall, with breathtaking views of Coal Harbour and the Burrard Inlet.
If you don’t often get to see what Stanley Park looks like during the colder winter months, this is a great reason to get exploring!
The paths are accessible for all ages and abilities, open to runners, joggers, walkers, and folks with leashed dogs and strollers.
There will be a water station set up along the running route, as well as live entertainment, and an “Elf-ie” station for your pre-run photos.
Here are all the races you can register for, and for how much:
While the 15k and 10k races are currently sold out, the last ticket tier will drop on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, so it’s not too late to sign up!
Participants get an Elf Name Bib, an Elf Toque, and a B.C.-made wooden medal that doubles as a Christmas tree ornament.
If you’re looking for a low-pressure, low-stakes run to take part in that doubles as a holiday celebration, this is it.
