April’s about to begin- no fooling! And from cherry blossoms to sports to concerts, there are tons of ways to celebrate it around Vancouver. Of course, we’ve got a few recommendations for how to kick things off, so let’s dive right in.

Here are the 10 best things to do in Vancouver this weekend.

The Big Picnic

One of Cherry Blossom Fest’s biggest events goes down this weekend. Head to David Lam Park in Yaletown for an afternoon filled with music, activities, and of course, cherry blossoms! Feel like exploring on your own instead? We’ve got our top picks around the city available too.

When: Saturday, April 2nd
Where: All around Vancouver
Cost: Free to attend

Greenheart TreeWalk

Speaking of outdoor options, a pretty fun one returns to the UBC Botanical Garden this week. The walk is some 310 metres, offering a canopy level view of your surrounding. We’re not joking about the canopy bit, as the TreeWalk soars over 20m into the sky at some points!

When: Opens April 1st
Where: 6804 SW Marine Drive
Cost: $10 for garden admission, tickets for the TreeWalk TBD

Bloedel Conservatory

If you’re getting fed up of the rain (fair enough), then this could be the perfect way to forget about it for a little bit. After all, a space filled with tropical plants and birds is a great alternative to holding up an umbrella or stress-testing that new GORE-TEX shell.

When: Open throughout the weekend
Where: 4600 Cambie Street
Cost: $7.05

Dua Lipa

Arguably the biggest concert of April also happens on the first day! Dua Lipa is heading to Vancouver to kick off the month, with Caroline Polachek and Lolo Zouai opening up for her.

When: Friday, April 1st
Where: 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: $256+

Felix Cartal

For something a little less massive, but no less energetic, this could be the pick. Vancouver’s own Felix Cartal will be playing at Gallery, which also happens to be the newest nightlife destination in the city.

When: Friday, April 1st
Where: 1312 Southwest Marine Drive
Cost: $64.67

Slush Cup at Grouse Mountain

If you’re trying to squeeze that last bit of winter fun, then this is right up your alley. The Slush Cup returns to Grouse this April, offering a chance at glory for those brave enough to face the icy water. As for us? We’re happy with a few groomer laps and spectating instead.

When: Saturday, April 2nd
Where: 6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver
Cost: $79 (for a lift ticket)

Vancouver Canucks

While making the playoffs might be next to impossible, what kind of fans would we be if we stopped supporting the team? Check them out against the Vegas Golden Knights this weekend, and hopefully witness a new Cinderella story.

When: Sunday, April 3rd
Where: 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: $77+

Vancouver Whitecaps

Like last month, the Vancouver Whitecaps are more away than they are home in April. So, if you’re hoping to watch some MLS soccer, make sure to grab some tickets for their match against Kansas City this weekend.

When: Saturday, April 2nd
Where: 777 Pacific Boulevard
Cost: Varies

Capture Photography Festival

First launched back in 2013, Capture has since become the largest photography festival in Western Canada. Both local and international artists get featured in a variety of ways, from free exhibitions to billboard takeovers around the city. We say make the most of it.

When: Starts April 1st
Where: All around Vancouver
Cost: Varies

Cirque du Soleil

After a 2-year hiatus, Cirque du Soleil has returned to Vancouver! What’s more, it brought a ‘reinvented’ version of one of its most popular shows- Alegria. Head on down to the Big Top so see what it’s all about.

When: Shows throughout the weekend
Where: Concord Pacific Place
Cost: $65+ for GA

That’s what we’ve got in mind for this weekend, Vancouver!
