The best spots to watch the Geminids meteor shower peak in Toronto

Incoming magic, Toronto! Known for its bold, bright streaks, the Geminids meteor shower will peak on Wednesday evening.

Described as “one of the best and most reliable annual meteor showers,” by NASA, this spectacular display is active until December 24th, 2023 – but is predicted to peak on the 14th.

According to EarthSky, the meteors are “plentiful” and can be seen in both hemispheres – however, it favours the Northern sky.

For the best view, point your eye to the Gemini constellation and wait until it’s at its highest point. This will happen around 2 am local time and – on the big day will not be obstructed by the light of the moon.

“In 2023, a young waxing crescent moon will not interfere with viewing the meteor shower.” EarthSky writes.

This beach is usually pretty quiet in the evenings especially during the cold weather, so it could the perfect spot to catch the show. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and enjoy the views of the skyline while you’re there.

LESLIE SPIT / TOMMY THOMPSON PARK

Located in the Port Lands, this unique urban nature park is completely removed from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Settle in by the shoreline and take in a sunset, a sunrise, or in tonight’s case, an incredible meteor shower.

HUMBER BAY PARK

If you’re over in the west end, be sure to check out this awesome gem.

We suggest hitting that during the day and extending your stay to the evening for the meteor shower.

MARILYN BELL PARK

The beautiful boardwalk makes this location worth the trip. Take an evening walk and look up to enjoy the Perseids Meteor Shower from here. Its west-end waterfront location is great for the occasion.
