Between the snow-covered trees and historic architecture, Christmas is a magical time of year in many parts of Canada. But, one province in particular seems to have the best holiday spirit, with two cities being named among the best places in the world to spend Christmas.

Like every year, Condé Nast Traveler has released a list of the 32 best places around the globe to spend the holiday season.

“While the jollity may look a bit different from city to city, these global destinations keep the holiday cheer going year after year,” it states. “And if you already have your plans solidified for this upcoming season, it’s never too early to start planning a fabulous winter vacation for 2024.”

So which province dominated? That was Quebec, with Montreal and Quebec City both making this year’s list.

According to Condé Nast Traveler, Montreal is Canada’s chicest city, with cozy French restaurants and high-end shopping. It also mentioned its “over-the-top festivals,” and Euro-feels.

As for what will get you into the holiday spirit, it recommends celebrating Christmas with mass at Notre-Dame Basilica, “arguably one of the most gorgeous churches in the world.”

Second Canadian city on the list is Quebec City, which is one of the oldest in North America.

The article mentions its “cobbled streets of the Old Town are packed with quaint shops and delicious bistros, all merrily decorated for the holidays.”

And to get into the holidays here, it recommends the Au 1884 toboggan run by Château Frontenac, which is open from mid-December to mid-March.

“Zoom down icy tracks overlooking the city on a wooden sled reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour,” it states.
