A chill is in the air! It is *officially* fall and now that the season has changed we’re all waiting for the leaves to follow suit. While some areas in Ontario haven’t quite gotten there yet, others are well on their way. These are the best Ontario parks where you can see fall foliage right now.
Ontario Parks has an online map that uses a colour guide to show which parks have the best fall colours right now.
You can click the park for more details including the percentage of progression the leaves are at.
Here are the ones that are peaking the fastest.
Is it any surprise that Algonquin tops the list for best fall foliage?
The park draws in people from near and far for its stunning views this time of year. The leaves are about halfway to their full peak with only 10% leaves fallen so this is a perfect time to plan a trip three.
“There are spectacular viewing opportunities throughout Algonquin Provincial Park along the Highway 60 Corridor and other access points, such as the Park’s trails and day use areas,” shares Ontario Parks.

Restoule is about three hours from Toronto by car in the North Bay Area.
The park is completely surrounded by deciduous trees making anywhere here great for fall colour viewing including the lookout on the Fire Tower Trail.
About 50% of the way along its fall foliage peak, this is the perfect time to visit Restoule Provincial Park.

This northern Ontario park is another spot where the leaves are progressing quickly to peak fall colours.
The best fall colour viewing is available from the beach on the east side of the park “where the contrast of Lake Superior’s blue waters can be seen against the brilliant yellows and oranges of the season’s change.”
Where: 12729 Hwy 17N P.0. Box 61, Batchawana Bay, ON
Just north on Highway 17 is another Ontario park with a sea of autumn colours starting to form.
The best place in Pancake Bay to see the trees is at the Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout! Not only will you get prime views of the leaves, you’ll also get gorgeous glimpses of Lake Superior.
Where: 12729 Hwy 17N, Batchawana Bay, ON
Another park in northern Ontario where the colours of autumn are coming through beautifully.
This popular park is in Wawa and according to the fall colour map, “Crescent Lake Trail, Pinguisibi (Sand River) Trail, and the first portion of Towab Trail to Burnt Rock Pool offer accessible yet stunning hiking through maple studded forests. For those up for more challenging hiking, Orphan Lake Trail, and Peat Mountain Trail deliver breathtaking views overlooking rolling hills of colour.”

Add these Ontario Parks to your weekend itinerary this fall and enjoy the foliage!
