Ontario’s farmers markets are one of a kind, filled with the freshest produce and goods around. But this local farmers market just north of Toronto has been named the best in Ontario for the year.

Farmers’ Markets Ontario has unveiled its annual Market of the Year Award for 2023. And this year’s winner is none other than Newmarket Farmers’ Market.

“A big congratulations to Cathy Bartolic and her team for their commitment and outstanding efforts that go above and beyond to foster community engagement and support local agriculture,” shares the organization.

The beloved market is open from May through October in Newmarket’s Riverwalk Commons located in the downtown core. It’s transformed into a vibrant marketplace with local vendors offering home grown goods.

From treats to produce and local artists and artisans, this market has been a fan favourite for over 20 years. In an Instagram post, the award-winning hub shared the news, thanking its community members and organizers for their support.

“Thank you Farmers Market Ontario for recognizing the Newmarket Farmers Market with this award,” shares the local marketplace.

“HUGE THANK YOU to all our customers for your love and support over the last 25 years! Without you, there would be no market. Whether you are an occasional visitor or a weekly diehard customer, you are the reason we keep going and the inspiration to always try to be better. Thank you for being part of our market family!”

The Newmarket Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday morning from 8 AM to 1 PM, May to October.
