Which Canadian city has the biggest chance of survival in a zombie apocalypse?

If you’ve been watching The Last of Us and wondered how and where you’d outlast a “zombie apocalypse”, you’re not alone. A new ranking has done the work for us and listed Canadian cities that would be the best and worst places to survive a rising of the undead. Curious to know? Keep on reading.

Online rental site Rentola, did its research and compiled a ranking that could help us in this “what if” situation. Not that a zombie apocalypse could ever happen, it’s thrilling to know what city would be the best… and worst.

“What if the world was taken over by a new epidemic that turns people into zombies? What if a new war breaks out, a war between the living and the dead? This is a fictitious crisis that we examined in depth to determine which city in Canada is the safest in the event of a zombie apocalypse,” states the ranking.

Five important factors were used to determine the results: Vulnerability, Hideouts, Supplies, Safety, and Mobility.

Population and health fall under Vulnerability, Hideouts consider the average size of a household, whether a city had a park or enough green space close to home and housing vacancies; food, fuel, tools, weapons, clothing, and medicine availability under Supplies; Safety looks at crime, firearms and weapon violations; Mobility includes walking, jogging, rollerblading and more.

Well, based on the results, the city that would be the best to survive a “zombie apocalypse” is Edmonton, Alberta. Saskatoon comes in second, Guelph, Ontario is third and Calgary is fourth.

And, fun fact, the hit HBO show The Last of Us was shot entirely in Alberta, if you didn’t already know. What a fun connection!

Anyway, the worst city to survive a “zombie apocalypse” is Saint John New Brunswick, Belleville, ON comes in second, and Trois-Rivieres, QC in third.
