BC day is just around the corner, which means it’s a good idea to start making some exciting long weekend plans and preparing for closures. Whether you want to enjoy some free family-friendly activities at Burnaby Village Museum or explore new heights at the Malahat Skywalk, here are 10 things to do in and around Vancouver on BC Day to add to your itinerary.
With the Vancouver Mural Fest underway starting August 5th, it’s a great time to prepare for upcoming events, like the Astro Alley pop-up party taking place from August 5th to 7th. This free, all-ages party will set up behind Astro Studio, where artists will be playing all day long.

Celebrate BC Day at the Britannia Mine Museum, which is hosting a day of live music, games, and more. Local performer Jocelyn Pettit will be joined by top-notch BC bandmates Erik Musseau (whistle, piano, vocals) and Boris Favre (piano, bass, vocals). The trio will present a lively and uplifting performance of “New-Trad Celtic” music.
Note that the trio will play two 45-minute sets on Monday, August 7th at the museum: One at noon and one at 1:30 pm.

This Monday, you can step back in time and experience BC’s Hudson’s Bay Company era at Fort Langley. Here, re-enactors will perform traditional music, tell stories, and showcase some of the most practical and crafty skills of the times.

From 11:30 am to 4 pm, Burnaby Village Museum is celebrating BC Day with a slew of live entertainment, historical displays, and interactive demonstrations. From Indigenous weaving and crafts to going on a scavenger hunt, to riding on the carrousel ($2.52 per ride), there is tons of family-friendly fun to be had.

If you love soaking up summer views and are good with heights, you’ve no doubt heard of BC’s stunning Malahat SkyWalk. And if you haven’t, there’s never been a better time to take to the skies. Best of all? The attraction just launched a new Tower Plaza at the base of the iconic Spiral Tower where visitors can gather to enjoy the best of Vancouver Island’s food, drink, and live music scenes.

JRG is celebrating BC Day with a special brunch session at all of its Metro Vancouver locations all long weekend long, including Monday, August 7th. They’ll be serving up all of their signature classics, along with $4 mimosas and $5 caesars.
