This Ontario village has a park on the edge of a bluff known for breathtaking sunsets

A trip to Bayfield, Ont., feels like escaping to a little slice of paradise. This small village is nestled along the shores of Lake Huron, a picturesque spot year-round. In the summer and fall, the views are stunning, with the area known for boasting some jaw-dropping sunsets.

If you’re driving from Toronto, getting to Bayfield will take you around three and a half hours. The village is tucked between Goderich and Grand Bend along the shore of Lake Huron — talk about a great location.

One of the main attractions in the area is the gorgeous Pioneer Park. The park is situated right on a bluff overlooking the lake. According to the park’s website, it’s best known for its breathtaking sunset views. This relaxing spot also has a staircase that leads visitors down to the water — a perfect place to take an evening stroll.

If walking or hiking is your thing, then you’ll be happy to know there are plenty of options when it comes to that, as Bayfield has 20 hiking trails ranging in difficulty and distance to accommodate hikers of all levels.

One of the most popular trails is the Woodland Trail, a 5 km loop through a beautiful woodland setting.

Main Street is also a must-stop. The area is lined with local shops and restaurants, so you can grab a bite to eat and do a little shopping to end your day.

Archies Surf Shop, Bayfield Outfitters, Calm in Bayfield, Edin Boutique, The Hive, and Pink Flamingo are just a few options for shopping along the strip. When it comes to food, Bayfield Brewing Co., Black Dog Pub & Bistro, Olio, and Cowbell Brewing are a few local faves.
