This Ontario park has a sandy beach & the warmest water along Lake Superior

Northern Ontario is truly special, and summer is the time to go if you don’t want to navigate piles of snow! Batchawana Bay Provincial Park is especially nice for those who prefer to stay away from the cold as the park has the warmest water along the Lake Superior shoreline.

If you live close to Toronto it will take you about eight hours to drive to this Ontario Park but it is well worth the trip.

The drive along Highway 17 near Batchawana Bay offers outstanding views of Lake Superior, so you’ll have stunning sights to take in before you even get to the park.

If you’re a hiker, this won’t be the Ontario Park for you, but if you’re a lounger then you’re in luck.

Batchawana Bay Provincial Park boasts a shallow beach with warm waters that will have you forgetting you’re in Ontario’s north.

The waters are protected and because they’re shallow, watching little ones is much easier.

The sandy shores are spacious and there are picnic facilities – so make a day of it!

Another activity you can do while you lounge – fish!

Rainbow trout, Northern Pike, Salmon, Lake Trout, and Walleye are all possible catches at Batchawana Bay.

This is a day-use park only, so no overnight camping is allowed.

Day passes/vehicle passes start at 12.25 making it a pretty affordable way to spend the afternoon!
