The season of skating around the city is back, and returning to Toronto this year is the Barbara Ann Scott Ice Trail at College Park.

The five-metre-wide trail opened in 2019 and is located right in the heart of downtown.

It’s also the first exterior skating path in North America to “incorporate state-of-the-art carbon dioxide technology in its refrigeration system,” according to the City of Toronto.

To celebrate its reopening for the winter season, Downtown Yonge BIA will be hosting a big party this Saturday with activities and entertainment for all people of all ages.

The event will feature host and live DJ Jayemkayem, as well as on-ice dance performances and skating shows throughout the afternoon, photo ops, games, and a lighting ceremony at sunset.

It’ll likely be pretty cold outside by then, but thankfully, there will also be fire pits for you to warm up next to.

There are so many places to skate surrounded by city lights this winter. The outdoor skating rink with free rentals at Union Station opens this month, as well as rinks around the city.

Get ready to lace up your skates, Toronto! Our beloved skating trail is about to open up for the season.
