A new spot for craft cocktails and late-night bites has opened in the heart of King West. INK Entertainment and Scale Hospitality Group have announced the opening of Bar Chica, the little sister of Toronto’s ever-popular Spanish tapas restaurant, Patria.
Bar Chica, which opened on Friday, April 8, serves elevated tapas, craft cocktails, and wine from 5 p.m. to late near King West and Portland St.
The new bar is described as a “late-night hangout spot,” and pays homage to the laneway tapas bars you’d find in Barcelona, with a “playfully mysterious and seductive atmosphere” and old world-meets-modern Spanish decor.

“Our goal was to transform the space, reinvent tapas in a way that was truly unique to us and provide a bustling and energized environment in which to enjoy the entire experience,” said Hanif Harji, CEO and Founder of Scale Hospitality, in the announcement.
“Food quality and creativity are at the core of the concept, but we wanted to ensure ‘fun and entertaining’ were also part of the equation; never taking ourselves too seriously.”
“Chica has been carefully curated to showcase both the traditional and inventive side of Spanish cuisine, with a more intimate and lively atmosphere reflective of Barcelona tapas bars,” said Charles Khabouth, CEO and Founder of INK Entertainment Group.
The shareable plates on the menu are fresh takes on classic tapas, with dishes like Croquetas de Jamon Con Trufas with black truffle and Manchego, Patatas Bravas with duck fat potato pavé, purée of parsley, tomato, black garlic and quail egg, and a selection of desserts.
The drink menu features a variety of “elegant meets inventive” cocktails, as well as beer, Spanish vermouths, sherries, and an extensive selection of wines.
The 60–seat restaurant has an intimate bar and an outdoor curbside patio that will extend with over 40 additional seats in the warmer months.
Bar Chica is open for walk-ins and by reservation, so if you’re looking for a new spot to kick it with the squad on a Friday night, this must be the place.
