The Alberta Rockies offer up plenty of peace and tranquillity, and one spot in Banff was just named one of the quietest places in the world.
The folks at Conde Nast Traveler put the question of where to find the best spots in the world to escape to for some serious peace and quiet, asking some of its favourite travel writers and editors around the world.
The prestigious travel publication rounded up 50 of the quietest places in the world, and Banff National Park‘s very own Healy Creek Trail made the cut.
It’s one of four spots in Canada to make the list, the others being Haida Gwaii in British Columbia, Iqaluit in Nunavut, and Turtle Mountain Provincial Park in Manitoba.
The Healy Creek/Brewster Creek trailhead to Sundance Canyon junction, just southwest of the Banff townsite, is 5.5 kilometres one-way and has an elevation gain of 95 metres.
Parks Canada says the forested trail is a taste of the backcountry, close to town and is perfect for those looking to fat bike, snowshoe, hike, or cross-country ski over the winter months.
For a shorter one-way trip, arrange for a drop-off at the Healy Creek/Brewster Creek trailhead, and ski or fat bike into the town; a short trail will bring you along Cave Avenue to the Banff Avenue bridge.
Banff has previously been named one of the most Instagrammable places in the world, and was called one of the most beautiful, too.
We just love to see our gem of the Rockies getting some serious love worldwide! It was even named one of the best places in Canada to visit — clearly, people just can’t get enough of it.
