Here’s when you could see fall colours in Banff
When it comes to autumn—planning ahead is incredibly important.
While you won’t find full forests of larch or aspen trees, there are enough to brighten the area and wow, is it beautiful!
According to Banff and Lake Louise Tourism, those who live for a pop of yellow should visit just after the fall equinox, which is on the 22nd this year.
“The fall colours in Banff typically start around the middle of September and get into full swing by about September 23rd,” they explain.
“Coming to Banff and Lake Louise in the last two weeks of September offers you the best opportunity to see the fall colours.”

Can’t wait?
It’s important to remember that Canada’s fiery hues are dependent on the weather, so before you go consider checking one of the live cams that Banff has listed on their website.
You’re in for a treat no matter when you head west but autumn is extra special—especially if you visit Larch Valley or the Lake Agnes Tea House Trail—two of our favourite fall trails.
There’s no place quite like Banff, Alberta, so enjoy it!
As Canada’s oldest (and first) national park, you won’t be disappointed.
