This North Cascades hike has a cable bridge over a beautiful river

Looking to get outdoors? Embark on a beautiful journey through nature on the Baker River Trail, where old trees and mossy boulders create an easy, mid length hiking adventure.

On your 5.2 mile roundtrip hike, you’ll wander alongside the Baker River, splashing through stream crossings and encountering open areas teeming with alder, huckleberry, and salmonberry during spring and summer months. On tranquil spring days, wildlife sightings are practically guaranteed.

In fall and winter, the trail is equally beautiful and more sparse, giving you the chance to see the landscape. As you begin following the East Bank Baker Lake trail, you’ll find a suspension bridge and panoramic views of Baker Lake just half a mile in.

Also along the trail you’ll find mossy rocks, a colossal cedar with intertwined trunks and even a mysterious 3-foot cave under a massive boulder, sparking imaginative conversations with fellow hikers.

So grab your boots, your poles and enjoy a beautiful hike this fall.
