The shores of Georgian Bay aren’t just for exploring in the summer. Awenda Provincial Park is nestled along the water and in the fall the area comes alive with autumnal hues! There are over 31 km of trails to hike and an ancient dune system to check out, too!
If you’re driving from Toronto getting to Awenda Provincial Park should take you about exactly two hours.
The park is located in Tiny, Ontario, nestled along the shores of the beautiful Georgian Bay.
If you’re heading to Awenda while the weather is still nice then be sure to check out the dunes. The dune system dates back over 11,000 years.
The Robitaille Homestead Trail is a 3 KM trail that leads to the ancient dune system featuring sand dunes from the time of the last glacial retreat.
Guests are asked to not climb the dunes, but feel free to snap photos!
Autumn is one of the best times of year to visit the park and there’s no shortage of views. Enjoy a “amphitheatre of vivid colour at Kettle’s Lake with a walk around the Wendat Trail,” shares Ontario Parks.
The Park’s Georgian Bay waterfront and Beach Trail are perfect for a sunset stroll while the main Awenda Park Road often features “a tunnel of subtle yellows right through until November.”
If you like being on the water, Awenda Provincial Park’s quiet and scenic lake is perfect for exploring. You’re welcome to bring your own or rent one from the park.
Day passes/vehicle passes start at $12.25 if you plan on attending.
