The first-ever Arts District Day is coming to Edmonton with free concerts and activities

It’s almost time for Arts District Day in Edmonton!

On March 14, you can wander between the Art Gallery of Alberta, Citadel Theatre, and the Winspear Centre. Throughout the day, you can waltz through the art gallery tours, art activities, and live music all around the Arts District. Not only that, but all of these activities will be free for the day!

This day marks the first Arts District Day ever, so this is sure to kick off with a bang.

What to expect

There are three main places you can visit on this Arts District Day, the first being the Art Gallery of Alberta.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the gallery itself will be open, with gallery tours happening every half an hour. These tours are limited to 20 people with no pre-registration required, meaning it’s first-come, first-served.

Alongside the tours, there are art activities on the third and second floors of the gallery. On the second floor, you can create a mixed-media art sculpture using wire, beads, and more, while on the third floor, you can create your own personalized poster.

During all of this, there will also be live music filling up the gallery. This concert series includes both free concerts within the gallery (on each floor) as well as ticketed performances by Littlebirds and Jed and the Valentine.

At the Citadel Theatre, the fun continues. There are face painters and balloon artists available to create your wildest fantasies, as well as a roving magic performer.

If you’re looking for music, you’ll find it at the Winspear Centre. Throughout the whole day, there will be non-stop free performances, as well as instrument trials with Long & McQuade.

This day is setting itself up to be one of the best free art events Edmonton has seen so far this year. You definitely won’t want to miss this one.
