What do you get when two of Seattle’s most associated industries come together? A robot barista of course. Artly Coffee is Seattle’s first artificial intelligence-powered coffee shop combining the power of tech and caffeine for an experience you won’t soon forget.

Artly Coffee’s goal is to preserve the craft of coffee, teaching robots human barista skills and tricks using deep learning AI combined with computer vision. This combination of learning tools ensures the robots onsite create the perfect cup of coffee each time and also allows them to continually learn rather than one set program.

Artly uses coffee beans roasted by reigning US barista champ, Joe Yang. He’s also the star individual who originally taught the barista bots how to make drinks.

While it’s a first in Washington State and Seattle, there are actually six other cafes spread across Oregon and California.

Drinks are ordered online or at kiosks with the menu containing items like both hot and iced lattes, Americanos, and matcha. There are also unique items like strawberry, yuzu, and rose-flavored drinks.

The robots are in charge of making the coffee and can answer simple questions and give drink tips, but there is also a human staff member on hand to help you get any pastries you might want to grab.
