Get excited Vancouver because the transportation game is about to get a lot more exciting. Because soon you’ll be able to cruise the city on an electric kick scooter. And these scooters are coming to 5 other cities in BC!

A new pilot program is making electric scooters legal in Kelowna, Vernon, Vancouver, West Vancouver, and North Vancouver city and district. Basically, this pilot program is a way for the local and provincial governments to test the safety of said scooters. And if things go smoothly, they might just become a permanent part of city transportation.

If you’re unfamiliar with electric kick scooters, the post below should give you an idea of what to look out for.

Now details on this pilot program are still limited but we know that it should begin later this year. And if approved, the scooters will be treated like e-bikes. So that means you’ll need to wear a helmet and be over the age of 16 to enjoy them.

We have to say that we hope things go smoothly with the pilot program because having electric scooters in Vancouver would be pretty fun. Plus it would make going up and down all the hills a little bit easier. If you’d like to learn more you can click here.
