Almonte, Ontario is a must-visit this summer. The small town can be found in Mississippi Mills near Ottawa, an adorable area with lots to do. The town is so cute that it’s served as a backdrop for a handful of movies! Here’s what to do while visiting.

Almonte makes it easy when it comes to checking out which movies have been shot there, listing them on their town website!

It’s no surprise the town has served as a backdrop, with the Mississippi River flowing through the area to make for some scenic views.

The town’s historic downtown is another draw for visitors.

If you take a stroll through downtown you’ll see preserved heritage buildings, museums, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes.

Speaking of restaurants and cafes, Almonte coins itself as a “food haven.”

Cafe Postino, Joe’s Italian Kitchen, North Market and The Almonte Ice Cream Shop can all be found along Mill Street, while The Barley Mow offers waterfront patio views on Little Bridge Street.

While you’re along the waterfront, take a stroll down the Riverwalk.

Along Riverwalk are stunning views of the Mississippi River as it weaves its way beneath the train bridge and past Kirkland Park, to a lookout by the Victoria Woollen Mill that offers a breathtaking view of the Grand Falls, a popular waterfall to check out.
