Alberta’s summer forecast just dropped & spoiler alert: It’s going to get HOT

With the sun in the sky, it’s starting to feel more like spring but we’d be lying if we weren’t anticipating a season when the grass is just a little bit greener. The June solstice is also just around the corner and this week, Farmer’s Almanac released its annual summer forecast for Alberta and the rest of Canada – giving us a glimpse into the space and time between June 21st and September 22nd.

According to their report – Canadians are in for hot summer with some parts of the country experiencing temperatures hovering between 30°C and 35°C for a good part of the season.

Alberta is one of those provinces – with Almanac calling this upcoming season one of “sizzling” conditions and scattered showery weather.

“[Canada Day] festivities in Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan will be threatened by squally weather traveling east out of the Rockies,” they wrote.

Sadly the rain could continue into August – though this month will also bring the heat, prompting many to hit the road in search of a lake or lazy river.

Luckily, the blistering heat won’t last ALL summer long!

“Showers are expected in the Rockies and across the Prairies, then turning fair, in time for Saskatchewan Day, Heritage Day in Alberta, and Manitoba’s Civic Holiday,” they continued.

“Toward the end of September, much cooler weather will begin to make its presence felt, possibly even leading to first sightings of wet snowflakes over parts of the Rockies.”

In short – start booking those campsites ASAP (near some water if you can) and don’t forget to bring an extra tarp!
