“January was quite a whiplash month, we went from -30°C as our high for a couple of days, right into 10°C to close out the month,” explained Alysa Pederson, a warning preparedness meteorologist with ECCC.

“To start February, another system moves in this weekend with a little bit of a cool down and potentially some snow in southern Alberta.”

Luckily, it won’t be anything Calgarians can’t handle.

In addition to some more snow in parts of the province, Alberta should also gear up for another dip in temperatures – but don’t fret!

Overall it will be a pretty average couple of weeks.

“As we move further into the month, there’s still a chance that we could get a cold snap like we did in January,” she mentioned.

“But if we look at February in total, it should be about normal to above normal.”

As always things can change, but things aren’t looking too bad for us.

If of course, you’d like to follow along, head to Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather and cross your fingers. Warmer, greener days are just around the bend.

Here’s to the end of winter and a smooth ride into spring!
