With the holidays just around the corner, we all need to do our part to keep everyone healthy this season. Luckily, whether it made its way onto your Christmas list or not, the Government will be gifting all Albertans a free rapid COVID test kit in hopes of keeping everyone together, safe, and happy this December.

As announced by Premier Jason Kenney this morning during a conference, those with a valid health care card will be eligible for one kit every two weeks as long as they’re asymptomatic.

Over 500,000 tests will be available first come first serve and will be available FREE of charge – though it’s important to note that these kits will not replace the Restriction Exemption Program that’s in place province-wide.

This move was actually hinted at it last week when Kenney said that an announcement would be made on December 14th about a broader rollout of Alberta’s rapid test kits.

These kits will be available at your local pharmacy starting Friday, December 17th, and will each include 5 tests, that will need to be done every 72 hours for an accurate result – so prepare to get familiar with that swab!
