Alberta has some legendary, campgrounds, national parks, and wilderness sites, but according to a new survey, there’s one in particular that really stands out.

Named the ‘most epic camping destination’ in the country by Scouts Canada, Jasper Alberta is THE favourite with 39% of the organization’s volunteer Scouters, Scouting youth and their parents ranking it at #1.

“As camping increasingly becomes the most viable vacation option this summer, Scouts Canada (the country’s leading co-ed youth organization) surveyed its 46,704 members,” they wrote in a press release. “On behalf of all Canadians, the survey also explored many decision-making questions that are critical to finding the best campsite for any level or type of adventure.”

Known for its glacier-fed lakes, forests and rivers, this Alpine town offers everything from hiking and biking, to boating, swimming, canoeing and rafting.

Not only is Jasper one of the most beautiful places in the entire country, but there’s also something for everyone to do and see – a surprise to no one who is aware that it’s actually the largest national park in the majestic Canadian Rockies.

Other parks made the cut? Well, as per the report, The Pacific Rim National Park Reserve scored 34.5% of the vote, followed by Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario (32.9), Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland (27.3%) and Fundy National Park in New Brunswick – which rounded out the top 5 with 22.5%.

In addition to the best and brightest, the organization also established the best ‘hidden Gem campsites in the Great North and yet again, Alberta made the list.

Among Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve in BC and Spruce Woods Provincial Park in Manitoba, the Scouts labelled Writing on Stone Provincial Park (Áísínai’pi) one of Canada’s best destinations that you may have never heard of.
