Canada is one of the most enchanting places on Earth and when it comes to mountain views and towering trees, Wild Rose Country is a must-visit.
Now, with the sun in the sky and summer on its way, we’re eager to get out and about – but where do you go if you want to go for a leisurely walk?
Alberta has several boardwalks where you can take a deep breath, take in the view, see wildlife, and enjoy the company of your friends and family.

Love history? There’s no place better than the birthplace of Canada’s national parks, the Cave and Basin Natural Historic Site. Located in Banff, this place is a must-visit. Here, you can wander the upper boardwalk above the bathing pavilion and peek inside the cave vent, or the lower boardwalk, which will take you through a wetland with birds and fish.

Located in St. Albert, this beautiful spot is where you’ll find the John E. Poole Boardwalk, a quiet Alberta trail that overlooks the aptly named Big Lake. Surrounded by water and sky, this particular park is recognized around the world for playing a significant role in keeping certain animals happy and healthy.

Alberta’s Beaver Boardwalk is a dreamy spot that is widely considered the ‘world’s longest freshwater boardwalk.’ If you’re feeling up to it, check it out and keep your eyes peeled! You never know what you’ll see along the way.

Surrounded by a beautiful boreal forest with over 300 years of growth, The Sir Winston Churchill Boardwalk is an incredible spot is pristine and while it’s a bit of a drive is totally worth a road snack or two.

Policeman’s Creek is super popular – but for good reason! With a 3.9 km walkway, this beautiful boardwalk runs alongside ponds and forested areas populated by deer, elk, ducks and birds.

There are few places like Cypress Provincial Park. A destination that should not be missed, this wheelchair-friendly walkway is truly a sight to behold.

Headed to Elk Island National Park? Located on Astotin Lake, the Living Waters Boardwalk is a 150-metre loop that only takes about 30 minutes to complete. Here you can enjoy beautiful views, fresh air, and wildlife.

Up above the world so high! The boardwalk on the top of Sulphur Mountain in Banff is truly something else. Though we’d recommend taking the Banff Gondola to the top, adventure-seekers will see mountain peaks, the town below and the bright blue sky above.

Located in the Canadian Badlands, the Michichi Creek Boardwalk is a stunning spot with a beaver dam, a year-round wetland area and a ton of birds, fish, and mammals. Check it out and don’t forget to read the many interpretive signs detailing the area’s significance.
