No, you won’t be able to relax under the shade of a palm tree, but you can make castles in the soft sand, get a tan, and in some cases stay the night.
Not sure where you can pitch a tent and make a splash this summer? Here are just a few campgrounds in Alberta that have a beach nearby.
Located between Cold Lake and Lloydminster, Riel Beach has 46 campsites (both powered and non-powered) over 113 acres of land and a wide sandy beach on a 12-mile lake. They also have kayaks, paddleboards, and paddleboats for rent!

An island getaway 5 km east of Lac La Biche, Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park has a beautiful campground. Here, guests can swim, paddleboard, go boating, lounge on the sandy beach, fish, hike or bike – in addition to staying in their choice of RV, Tent or rental cabin.

Located in Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park, Marten River Campground has 110 sites that are private and clean, but the best part is that they’re also a short walk from the lake shore and beach. Need some ice, or have a craving? They also have a campground booth where you can pick up the necessities.

Described as the “jewel of the North,” Shaw’s Point Beach Resort has miles of soft sand perfect for a weekend getaway with friends, family, or your special someone. In addition to lounging on the shoreline, building sandcastles, reading a book or grabbing a bite to eat at their restaurant, guests can also rent a pontoon boat!

Looking to make some memories? At Kinbrook Island Campground, reserve one of 160 sites (suitable for RVs and tents) then spend a weekend lounging on the beach and swimming in Lake Newell “one of Alberta’s best-kept secrets.”

With an interpretive centre, rentals, and beautifully groomed trails, Crimson Lake is one of Alberta’s best. This place was made for family camping – all of which is only made better by the fact that it’s also lakeside and absolutely beautiful. Go swimming, boating, or just hang out on their large beach – it’s paradise!
