Here are all the cashier-less 24-hour grocery stores opening soon in Toronto

Say hello to the future. Following the opening of Toronto’s very first self-serve grocery market Aisle 24 last fall, several more locations are set to open in and around the city this year.

Aisle 24 is described as a “fully automated, cashier-less grocery market for Canadian residential communities, condos, apartments, and campuses.”

To shop there, you first have to download the app and make an account. You’ll need to have the app handy just to unlock the door to the shop.

Once you’re inside, you can browse and scan your items at the self-serve kiosk, then pay with your mobile wallet, debit, or credit.

Aisle 24 sells almost all of the essentials you’d find at your local grocery store, including produce, dairy, deli, bakery, beverages, frozen foods, personal care items, and household cleaners. You can even pick up electronics and on-the-go meals.

You’d think that shopping without a cashier around might tempt some people to pocket an item or two. But, stores are outfitted with enhanced security systems to help prevent theft, so you may not want to take your chances.

The existing store at 21 Lawren Harris Square in West Donlands will soon be joined by several more locations.

Here are all of the Aisle 24 locations set to open soon:

  • River City 4 (Canary District)
  • Tango @ Concord Park Place (Leslie & Sheppard)
  • The Prestige (1 Yonge St by Pinnacle International)
  • Novus Liberty (East Liberty Village)
  • MCity Condos (Mississauga)

The cashier-less shops will be popping up in cities all over Canada pretty soon. It definitely feels like the start of a new era.
