This B.C. resort has a magical skating loop through the forest

If you’re a fan of outdoor skating, winter 2025 just got that much more magical in B.C. Just 30 minutes away from Penticton, there’s a mountain resort that lets you skate through the forests of Apex Mountain.

A hidden gem of B.C. skiing, the full-service resort is known for its quality snow and terrain, with options for all winter enthusiasts. In addition to the enchanting skating loop, there’s a tube park that’s open every weekend – even at night!

A representative of Apex Mountain Resort confirms that the scenic skating loop is currently open and will remain in operation until the weather gets warmer, typically in mid-March. According to the resort’s website, the smooth, sparkly path is maintained by its Zamboni daily, ensuring skaters enjoy long, leisurely glides through the trees.

The Adventure Skating Loop operates from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, though these hours may be affected by significant snowfall events and warmer temperatures, according to the resort’s website. So make sure to check the local weather conditions before making the trek!

To access the skating loop, visitors can purchase a Skating Pass for $5.

Skate and helmet rentals are available at the Rental Shop for $15 and $6 respectively, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and until 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Want to hit the slopes as well? Adult lift tickets start at $121 per day, with the resort open for the season until April 6, 2025.

Happy skating!
