Listen up, Edmonton! There’s a new arcade centre open in the city, but it’s nothing like the ones you’ve been to before. Activate Edmonton claims to be the world’s first active gaming facility, where you and your friends compete in a series of challenges that are basically life-sized arcade games.

Jump, climb, and dodge your way to victory while you put your skills to the test. “You and your group of 3-5 will move freely between eleven interactive rooms, choosing games that challenge your agility, problem solving, and speed,” the description says.

Activate Edmonton South opened earlier this month and is located at 1949 98 Street NW.

Expect nearly a dozen rooms filled with “lasers, glowing floors, and even an interactive rock-climbing wall. Players move freely between rooms, each filled with games of agility, precision, and problem-solving.”

According to Activate, there are ten levels of difficulty and the choice of cooperative or competitive gameplay. Visitors can also customize their experience to their group, skill level, and style of play.

Before going, you don’t need to book specific rooms. The admission cost will give you full access to the facility, and you can spend your 75 minutes in as many rooms as you’d like.

There are a few Activate locations in Canada and the U.S., and now we have one right here!
