Sure, wine from fancy European places like Bordeaux and Champagne are amazing, but what about wine from a garage? Well, Garden of Granite is doing just that in North Vancouver. The recently opened wine producer and tasting room boasts unique, fun wines that are made to be drunk, not stored away in a cellar. Count us in!

All the wine uses BC grapes and is made by their “garagistes” in a garage. And if you’re a wine fan, their bottles look like must-try options. While yes, they have classics like viogniers, they also make more experimental batches like their apple and grape rosé or brut! A match made in heaven? We’ll have to try it before we know for sure, but the odds are in their favour.

Still hung up on the term ‘garagistes‘? We were too. Turns out, the word comes from a group of producers in France in the 1990s. Basically, these folks decided to use the same grapes to make much more approachable wines. And, Garden of Granite has brought that idea to North Van.

If these varieties pique your interest, they are selling bottles, cases, and yes even kegs, or wine for you and your bubble to enjoy. You can even visit them in person at their in-person tastings, check their Insta for details on that front. Now, go indulge your inner sommelier and try some new wine!
