At the end of 2020, a proposal for two crazy new towers in Vancouver’s West End. Simply called 1700 Alberni, the towers were proposed by Bosa Properties and Kingswood Properties. But, we’re much more interested in the design than the due diligence.
The London architecture firm Heatherwick Studio is the mastermind behind the design. The firm’s impressive portfolio includes everything from Google Campuses to massive condo buildings and World Expo pavilions.

And, they’re not cutting any corners with this new design. The towers will be 30 and 34 storeys respectively. There will be a mix of residential and retail, with a massive atrium at the base of each tower. Apparently, the developers don’t want to mess with the foot traffic emphasis in the West End.
Of course, the winding mix of glass, concrete and fauna would look pretty darn cool as well. Plus, the whole ‘inverted pyramid’ look reminds us of one of our favourite buildings out there- an office building in Seattle. We have ‘brutal’ taste, we know.
